What is the Ninth Floor Project?

The Ninth Floor Project is a collaborative effort to design a symbol for the majority who support stem cell research. Hundreds of groups have an interest in promoting federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Most of these organizations lobby individually or live in hope that the majority of Americans (73%) who support their position will eventually call for the change they want. The Ninth Floor Project is a vehicle designed specifically to unify these groups—and the millions they represent—around their support for stem cell research.

Why do stem cell advocates need a symbol?

Symbols have the power to bring people together. When the power of the majority is seen and felt, change often follows.

Who is designing the symbol?

Designers at Empax - the nonprofit graphic design studio-- are creating a symbol in collaboration with the general public. They are sharing their creative process on this website and encouraging interested individuals to comment and submit ideas.

What is the symbol?

The final version will be unveiled and released on September 1, 2006 on the Ninth Floor Project website.

Who will distribute the symbol?

The symbol will be freely available to any group or individual who wishes to demonstrate his or her support for stem cell research. We encourage anyone interested in joining this campaign to contact Caryn at info@ninthfloorproject.org

Who is funding the Ninth Floor Project?

Empax is currently funding development of the symbol. In order to distribute the icon widely and effectively, The Ninth Floor Project hopes to partner with like-minded organizations and patient advocacy groups to raise the funds needed to reach critical mass. If you'd like to donate money, or have ideas to increase awareness and distribution, please contact Caryn at info@ninthfloorproject.org
